Let your accountant review entries instead of typing them

IWB builds the journal entries for invoices, finance vouchers, production, and depreciation from built-in posting rules, and your accountant previews and posts them. The Turkish Uniform Chart of Accounts (Tekdüzen Hesap Planı) is included, and once you close a month, corrections go in only as reversing entries.

Runs in your browser. In the cloud or on your own server, it's the same IWB.

01

Catch a wrong posting before it hits the ledger

Your accountant previews a document's entry, sees which amount goes to which account, and posts documents one at a time or in bulk. Built-in posting rules cover invoices, finance transactions, production completions, and depreciation. You can also have IWB draft the entry when a sales invoice is issued, and if you turn on Accounting later, past documents are included too.

  • The preview flags any missing account mapping
  • Reverse a canceled document's entry from the same list
  • Cost of goods sold is posted as an entry separate from the stock entry

02

Closed months stay as you closed them

If you find a mistake in a closed month, you don't change the entry. You correct it with a reversing entry. The two entries stay linked, and the closed month's records remain as they were. A period is sealed when you close the month or generate its e-Ledger files, and entries posted from source documents can't be edited even before that.

No gaps in journal entry numbers

An entry gets its number when it's posted. Drafts don't have one.

03

Show an auditor what's behind any balance

Go from any line of the trial balance to its account ledger and see the transactions behind the balance. Run it by date and account range, with a monthly breakdown or an FX balance column, or filtered by cost center. The balance sheet and income statement use Uniform Chart of Accounts templates, and the balance sheet shows whether assets equal liabilities and equity.

04

File from figures already in your books

When you close the VAT period, IWB generates the accrual entry for VAT payable and reads the VAT carried forward from the closing entry. The KDV1 VAT return, the KDV2 return for VAT you withheld, stamp tax, and withholding tax (Muhtasar) reports are drafts you work from as you prepare your filings. The KDV1 screen states at the top that it isn't the official return.

  • Download the input VAT, VAT incurred, and sales invoice lists for VAT refunds as Excel or CSV
  • The KDV2 draft compares the VAT withheld on documents with the amount in the ledger

05

See what's missing before month-end close

The checklist shows unposted documents, reconciliation differences, and late entries. You preview and post the FX revaluation, with an optional automatic reversal the next day. Cost transfer (7/A) and guided period-end transfer entries are in the same place, and your accountant enters the transfer amount. For provisional and corporate income tax, IWB calculates non-deductible expenses (KKEG), the prior-year loss carryforward, and the finance expense restriction.

  • Optional notes rediscount
  • Imputed interest (adat) report for shareholder accounts and excess cash
  • Prorated loan interest accrual

06

Files ready for your external accountant

Give your external accountant (SMMM) the period's journal lines as a semicolon-separated CSV file. A period over 50,000 lines is split into numbered parts instead of being silently cut off. For a closed month, IWB generates the e-Ledger journal, general ledger, and certificate (berat) files in the format set by the Turkish Revenue Administration (GİB), and you download them.

Your integrator handles submission

IWB generates the ledger and certificate files. Signing and uploading them to GİB happen outside IWB: your GİB-licensed integrator (özel entegratör) or external accountant uploads them, and you track the certificate deadline on the calendar in IWB.

07Document flow

Issue an invoice once, and it reaches the e-Ledger

A sales invoice you issue goes to your accountant's list of unposted documents, with nothing to export or re-enter. When your accountant posts it, the entry gets its number. Posted entries feed the VAT closing and, once the month is closed, the e-Ledger (e-Defter), Turkey's electronic statutory books. Purchase invoices, finance vouchers, production, and depreciation follow the same path.

What you can do with Accounting

  • Account mappings

Set the account a record posts to at 12 levels, such as contact, product, or category. IWB uses the most specific mapping first and falls back to the general one.

  • Statutory parameters

Thresholds and rates are kept by year in a catalog, and you can enter your own value with a justification.

  • Fiscal periods

You open and close fiscal years and months. A month whose certificate has been generated can't be reopened.

  • Account-based budgets

Build budgets with scenarios and revisions, and track planned versus actual period by period.

  • Group companies

The consolidated trial balance and intercompany reconciliation report need a separate permission.

  • Second ledger

Keep an optional management ledger next to the statutory ledger kept under the Tax Procedure Law (VUK). It is off by default.

  • Cost centers

Filter the trial balance and account ledger by cost center. Depreciation entries are linked to projects too.

  • Contract stamp tax

Preview the accrual and get a separate draft entry for each contract.

09Compliance

Handle period-end tax work inside your books

The chart of accounts, ledgers, and period-end entries follow Turkish rules. IWB reads year-based thresholds and rates from a catalog, and if a year's value hasn't been entered, it uses the previous year's and warns you.

Frequently asked questions

Does IWB submit the e-Ledger?

No. For a closed month, IWB generates the journal, general ledger, and certificate files in the format GİB sets, and you download them. Your integrator or external accountant submits them.

Does it prepare the VAT return?

It prepares draft reports, and the official return is filed outside IWB. The KDV1, KDV2, stamp tax, and withholding tax (Muhtasar) reports are compiled from your documents. The KDV1 and KDV2 screens say "This screen isn't the official return," and the stamp tax and withholding reports say "This report is a draft." The VAT closing entry and the VAT carried forward are posted to the ledger.

How do I work with my external accountant?

Export the period's journal lines as a general CSV file and send it to your external accountant. Each file holds up to 50,000 lines, and a larger period is split into parts. There's no export template for any specific accounting program.

Can I keep the books in a foreign currency?

The books are kept in Turkish lira (TRY). Documents carry their own currency and exchange rate, the trial balance can show an FX balance column, and the statutory FX revaluation is done at period end.

Can I keep statutory and management ledgers separately?

Yes, you turn it on in settings. For each document you choose the target ledger (statutory, management, or both), and only users with a separate permission can see the management ledger. It is off by default, and there is no full IFRS reporting.
